Still like Sonic? I do, sort of, even though Sega doesn’t make it easy at times. Sure, Sonic Colors and Generations were good, but just bringing up Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a good way to get me to start dry heaving. Sega is promising that the 2nd (and final) episode of Sonic 4 will fix all the substantial problems of the original release, and I suppose we’ll find out when the game is released on PSN on May 15th and XBLA on May 16th.

No User Content for Minecraft on XBLA
Anyone who has spent some time with Minecraft’s PC version knows how much content is created by the community; endless skins and texture packs, tons of mods, and enough servers to keep you busy, well forever, essentially. Without the community’s content the PC Minecraft experience would not be what it is today. Unsurprisingly none of this content, or anything like it, will find its way to the XBLA version of Minecraft. Last week Hookshot Inc. asked lead producer Roger Carpenter, who works for Microsoft, about porting the indie behemoth to Xbox Live, and it looks as if Minecraft on Xbox is going to be a much more limited experience.
10 Dreamcast Games That Deserve HD Ports
Sega recently announced a new HD port of cult classic Jet Set Radio, and while the first wave of Dreamcast HD ports was severely underwhelming, it’s hard not to get excited at the thought of being able to replay some of gaming history’s best and most beloved titles in HD. Sure, there’s a good (probable even) chance that Sega will half-ass future Dreamcast ports as well, but Sega’s final system still holds a special place in most gamers’ hearts, and I’m sure most hardcore gamers would still gladly spend a few dollars to relive those halcyon days, shoddy port or not.
Mojang is Making Tim Schafer Look like a Boss Again
It seems that over the past week I’ve been typing the names “Tim Schafer” and “Notch” in the tags on my posts an awful lot. Obviously most of this revolved around Double Fine’s vastly successful Kickstarter campaign and Notch’s hopefully cautious comments about Psychonauts 2. Yesterday Mojang had their successful Humblebundle event. Now, however, Mojang is making Schafer look like a boss, completely by accident.
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus Coming to Arcades, XBLA and PSN
Guilty Gear is back! … Kind of. It’s been 4 years since Guilty Gear Accent Core was released, and outside of the weird action/strategy hybrid Guilty Gear II for Xbox 360 in 2009, there hasn’t been much news regarding Arc System Works’ rock metal themed fighter this generation. Thankfully, Sol Badguy and crew are poised to make their comeback tour sometime soon, as Sega announced today that they’ll be porting the latest version of Guilty Gear over to arcades, XBLA and PSN.

Shank 2 arrives this week
The Klei developed beat’em up Shank is getting its deserved sequel early this week to bring a bit more blood into this lovey-dovey month. Shank 2 brings players back in control of the titular character Shank as he travels the gritty comic-book-style world to, well, beat dudes to a bloody pulp, this February 8.

Dust: An Elysian Tail was an indie game now its full blown XBLA
All the way back in 2009 when Microsoft was first showing off their concept of Xbox having indie games, they showed off Dust: An Elysian Tail. That game was never actually released on the service, though it did win best of DreamBuildPLay in 2009. Now it seems the developer, Humble Hearts, will be releasing the game this year on XBLA.
Sega Sale on PSN, iOS, and XBLA
While Sega was my favorite videogame company growing up, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Sega over the last few years. I loved Vanquish. I loved Sonic Colors. I love Valkyria Chronicles… and well, I hated Iron Man, Golden Axe Beast Rider, Shining Wind, Sonic Riders, Sonic Free Riders, Sonic Unleashed, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, Sonic Rivals, Sonic Chronicles, Sonic and the Black Knight, and ,um, well, you get the point. Still, they’ve been improving recently, and thanks to a sale that starts tomorrow, some of Sega’s more recent digital offerings will be available at a discounted price, so even if the game does in fact end up sucking, at the very least you minimized the amount of money you wasted.
