Alan Kertz of Battlefield’s gameplay design has given details of the upcoming updates and some insight into how an online game like this gets properly balanced despite problems on individual maps. For instance, the IRNV scope which was recently nerfed to a degree has caused some division in the community. Some thinking it was nerfed too much, and others thinking it was nerfed too little. Some videos have shown that its effectiveness on certain maps is very inconsistent.

Battlefield 3 gets patches to improve stability and gameplay on consoles
Servers are often subject to problems, especially in games like Battlefield 3 which have to make millions, even billions of calculations every few seconds, and all the while passing accurate data to all players in the game. DICE is certainly aware of the current issues plaguing console gamers and has quickly released a few patches with more being worked on to correct the biggest problems.
Preview of Windows 8 at Microsoft Build conference
The first day of the Microsoft Build conference was quite informative for anyone looking for a glimpse into the working and aesthetics of Windows 8. Most of the speaking was done by Jensen Harris and the sessions were mostly “Big Picture” in nature. Three such sessions were held and they started off with an outline of the design used in Windows 8 and moved on to explanation of using Visual Studio and other platforms to build applications for Windows 8. Several examples were used to show the versatility of the developer’s tools which come with the OS; for the benefit of existing application developers and to draw new ones to the platform.

Modern Warfare 3 allows Updates without Patches. Sorcery!
Nearly every game released has bugs, and these bugs are often fixed with patches released after the game has been sold to millions of people. Online games are especially prone to this due the huge number of players discovering tactics and tricks that can be considered overpowered and, subsequently, leads to copious amounts of whining. Modern Warfare 3 is going to have updates without patches through dark forces and deals with the Devil. Or just simple technology.

Notch talks about Minecraft’s upcoming EXP system.
On Notch’s twitter, he posted an image with a height cap of 512 blocks, commenting on how the landscape generator doesn’t like to play nice with numbers that high. For reference, the default height of Minecraft worlds up and down is 64 blocks. On the image was a bar and a new gauge that looked like meat. Now, Notch explains that it’s an upcoming EXP bar, the second clearly hunger.
Windows Phone 7 Update Schedual For Early 2011 – Leaked
Many Windows Phone 7 developers have reported receiving an update that enables copy-and-paste functionality earlier this week. Now, WinRumors claims that it has managed to get it’s hands on WP7′s 2011 update schedule.
According to WinRumors, Windows Phone 7 will receive 2 major updates next year, the first of which will bring copy-and-paste functionality [finally], while the second will bring several enhancements to third party apps.
FireFox 4 First Look
Upon first install of Firefox 4 beta 3 codenamed: “Minefield” you will notice right away that they have simply thrown away what Firefox was and totally reinvented it.
Firstly, the look, as you will see it looks similar to Google’s Chrome browser which is very simplistic but perfect as there is nothing to clutter your screen and allow you to browse without hiccups. Secondly, they have added a progress circle so you can see how far a webpage is loaded without going to the tab which I found very useful with more then 30 tabs open.
