Over ten years have passed since Epic released the first Unreal engine that was built for the appropriately named Unreal game and it has been used many time by many developers in a vast variety of ways. It then evolved and became Unreal Engine 2 which relied on the popularity of the script language used in its architecture that made it easy to create mods for games built on the engine.
