If you’ve read my other review on the Asus Transformer Pad TF300 then you’re in for a bit of surprise. Instead of a tablet with a keyboard dock add-on making it a netbook, we now have the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga, which is an ultrabook that is able to bend back into a tablet. With a 360 degree dual-hinge flip and fold design, the Yoga will be available in the second half of 2012 with an estimated starting retail price of $1,199. Mentioned at CES 2012, the Yoga will have 4 modes enabled by the hinges. With no specified names for these positional stands, the modes are standard laptop, convertible tablet, stand, and tent.

Tablet or Netbook: You Decide
Successor to the Asus Transformer Prime, the Asus Transformer Pad TF300 is much cheaper and fixes many of the problems that appeared in the Prime. Although the screen my not be as bright and the battery life won’t last as long as the Prime, the $100 difference in the prices is something to consider. Just yesterday, the TF300 released in US retailing at $379 for the 16 GB version and $399 for the 32 GB version. If you want the keyboard dock, which is the main feature of this tablet, it will cost you another $149 to a grand total of about $530-550! This may seem very expensive and nearly matches the price of Apple’s iPad, but with the dock you can use the TF300 as both a tablet and netbook.
Kindle Fire To Receive Update To Fix Critical Flaws
The New York Times has released the news that within the next 2 weeks, Amazon will bring out a major update to the Kindle Fire firmware. The users feel this is a much needed move, since they have been faced with problems in the device such as poor performance, along with there being no scope for the users to edit the ‘carousel’ system and eliminating old, unused and embarrassing icons.
Motorola Upgrades Xoom Line Up With Xoom 2 And Xoom 2: Media Edition
It was highly anticipated that Motorola will soon release a successor to the XOOM tablet. But as a sequel to the honeycomb-run tablet, Motorola launched two versions of XOOM 2 – XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition. The new twins in the market have slimmer designs than XOOM and they have stark similarities to the RAZR look. As of now, they are available in Wi-Fi versions only.
Barnes and Noble’s Nook 2 Rumoured To Be Announced Soon
The Kindle Fire, from Amazon has recently taken the world by storm because of its low pricing and this seems to have led its competition, Barnes & Noble (right from the ebook reader days) to seemingly accelerate the release of its own tablet, the Nook Color 2. Rumour has it that this device will be released on November 7th and will potentially be called the Nook Color 2 but there is every possibility of a new name. The new version will allegedly have a revamped processor and a better screen and will be touched up with some modifications in design.

The ViewPad 7e as it is called will be available by the end of this month and to those who had ordered it from Amazon, it will be delivered on a priority basis. It’s featured in the low end price range of tablets, costing a mere $200, which will probably make for good competition for the Kindle Fire from Amazon. So what does this tablet get you? Let’s take a look.
Archos G9 Announced
Recently, a tablet was displayed at the IFA and it caught a lot of attention because of its features and mainly because of the manufacturer. We are talking about none other than the Archos 101 G9 tablet, which is all set to go on sale. On first view, it is no different from the standard Galaxy Tab or iPad but there are some differences that might make this purchase worthwhile, the relatively reasonable $370 price tag being one of them.
Rumors About Xoom 2 Surface
It might not be as popular as the iPad or even the Galaxy Tab, but the Motorola Xoom is out there to make a name for itself and seems to be doing fine. Why else would the manufacturer even think of investing and releasing a newer, modified version? Yes, we are talking about the yet unannounced Xoom 2 and based on the leaked, confidential images it looks like it is in for a makeover.
New mod for TouchPad from CyanogenMod
WebOS, what HP thought would revolutionize tablet computing across the world has had a relatively dull time so far. In fact, it has seen no growth since the time of release, when it was lauded as the greatest operating system ever for tablets and then shunned, virtually the next day itself. This was despite a $1.2billion investment on HP’s part. Recently, HP had made an announcement that development related to webOS will be stopped and it will evaluate the future for the platform in the coming months; though support for existing webOS owners will continue. However, this hasn’t prevented Android developers from having a crack at the Touchpad which went on a firesale for a flat $100 a few weeks ago.
High performance tablets from Archos
Two tablets were set to hit the market this month but have been delayed, according to latest reports. The tablets in question are the Archos 101G9 and the 80G9. Among the two, the 80G9 will be available in September as per initial announcements while the other has been pushed back to October. Archos, the French manufacturer had made an announcement to bring out what could be potentially revolutionary tablets, thanks to their high performance, mentioning that they would be released in September. As of now it is unclear why the deadline has been pushed back.
GameStop May Launch Its Own Tablet
GameStop, the retailer of video games, is all set to jump into the tablet space, the president of the company said in an interview with the media. The president Tony Bartel told the media that if the company is able to work with its current partners and OEMs and if they come up with a new tablet which offers a great gaming experience along with a controller connected with Bluetooth then the company does not need to develop their own device.
Motorola Xoom: First Impressions
After the initial launch of the iPad, everyone seemed to have gone into a tablet frenzy. It wasn’t until recently that companies started to put out real competition for the iPad. So, when I was trying to decide which tablet I would like to receive this year for my birthday present, I was stuck. The Playbook, while amazing, isn’t too friendly without a Blackberry. The size was also a large factor, as my Motorola Atrix was too close to the size of the Playbook. It came down to the iPad 2 and the Motorola Xoom. As an early birthday present, I received the Xoom, and couldn’t be happier.
