Batman: Arkham City Ships Out 4.3 Million on First Week

Batman: Arkham City Ships Out 4.3 Million on First Week

There was almost no doubt in my mind that Batman: Arkham City would be a commercial success. Highly praised with some stunning game play, it truly does deserve every accolade it has received. It really comes down to numbers though, especially to the big guys upstairs, and the numbers seem promising. Warner Brothers has announced that 4.6 million copies of Arkham City has been shipped out in its first week.

Xbox 360 Topping Charts in Sales

Xbox 360 Topping Charts in Sales

It seems those that think the new Xbox S looks like an ugly Alienware remodel are sorely in the minority. For the second month in a row the sale of all Xbox 360s has been on top in console hardware sales(443,000 units sold), this is surely due to the revamped hardware. The most impressive thing about this news is that Microsoft’s black box has also outsold the immensely popular Nintendo DS(398,000 units sold) this month.

Sure, Microsoft is over 3 years behind in the built-in wi-fi league, though that didn’t stop them from showing off by sporting the latest Wireless N technology, which not even the ‘super advanced’ PS3 has. I would also assume the greater storage (250GB) had something to help fuel the sales, considering even those with 120GB HDDs are filling them (myself included). So whether you liked the design changes or not, the better wi-fi, bigger hard drive and quieter, more efficient cooling are all great reasons to upgrade to the Xbox 360 S.

Nintendo Wii Has Sold 30 Million Just In The US

Nintendo Wii Has Sold 30 Million Just In The US

I remember back in 2006, waiting in line to be one of the first and few to get Nintendo’s shiny, white, rectangle console. It was a cool November but all the excitement and the fellow Nintendo fans made it a warm wait. I was so full of happiness after I purchased the Wii that I rushed home right away, set it up and popped in Twilight Princess then played until the sun came up. Luckily I didn’t have to work the next day.

Weeks following that it seems store shelves could not hold on to the console due to the amazing demand, and even two years later sales showed little sign of slowing. The Wii was constantly at the top of NDP hardware lists and sales charts and right before a large drop in sales Wii Fit was released and kept its reign supreme. Not untilĀ  last year did the Wii actually drop in sales by a significant amount.

So, this may comes as no surprise but Nintendo announced today via a press release that they have reached a milestone. 30 million Nintendo Wii Consoles have been sold since it’s launch November 19 and this is just in the United States alone. That is pretty huge considering it did this 15 months faster than the PS2 did it. Also in the press release was the top software titles sold for each, first and third party companies. These are after the break.
