Sega Sale on PSN, iOS, and XBLA

Sega Sale on PSN, iOS, and XBLA

While Sega was my favorite videogame company growing up, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Sega over the last few years. I loved Vanquish. I loved Sonic Colors. I love Valkyria Chronicles… and well, I hated Iron Man, Golden Axe Beast Rider, Shining Wind, Sonic Riders, Sonic Free Riders, Sonic Unleashed, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, Sonic Rivals, Sonic Chronicles, Sonic and the Black Knight, and ,um, well, you get the point. Still, they’ve been improving recently, and thanks to a sale that starts tomorrow, some of Sega’s more recent digital offerings will be available at a discounted price, so even if the game does in fact end up sucking, at the very least you minimized the amount of money you wasted.

Want to Share Your Vita with Someone on a Different PSN Account? Too Bad

Want to Share Your Vita with Someone on a Different PSN Account? Too Bad

Recently, the news whether or not Sony’s newest handheld will allow for multiple PSN accounts per device or not and we finally have solid answers. A PSN account is not only tied to just a memory card, it’s tied to both the card and the Vita it’s self, Sony told Wired.

What this means for the customer is that “If a second person is using your Vita, it’s not just a case of switching out memory cards, it’s clearing out all of your saved data on the Vita itself when you do the factory reset.” Which, I guess, is their way of trying to combat piracy and make sure no one tries any work around (like that will ever work) in addition annoying the customers of families. Hopefully you didn’t plan on sharing your handheld with a sibling or use that Japanese account to get import games on your American Vita.

PlayStation Vita Supports Multiple PSN Accounts

PlayStation Vita Supports Multiple PSN Accounts

Sony’s PlayStation Vita was originally thought to house a single PlayStation Network account per handheld, but according to reports from Wired Game|Life, this isn’t the case.

Crystan MacKenzie, associate brand marketing manager at Sony says account information for PSN users will be stored on the memory cards, and not within the internal memory as initially suggested. Therefore, users can simply swap out memory chips if they wish to change accounts. Vita owners, however, will have to restore the system to its factory default settings in order to switch PSN accounts on the same memory card.

South Korean law prohibiting online gamers under 16 at certain times will be enforced on the PS3

South Korean law prohibiting online gamers under 16 at certain times will be enforced on the PS3

A good while ago, South Korea decided to create a law that prohibits Koreans under the age of 16 from playing online games during certain times of the night. Original reports said that the law would not affect console gamers, but Sony’s Korean branch said that they would disallow minor’s access to the PSN in order to comply with the law.

Starting Nov. 18, PSN Games Can Only Be Activated Twice

Starting Nov. 18, PSN Games Can Only Be Activated Twice

One of the best features of the PS3, in my opinion, is the ability to share games bought via the PSN Store with 4 of your friends. Thanks to the generosity of Sony and a few of my friends were kind enough to put their PSN accounts on my system, I’ve amassed a pretty sizable collection of quality, downloadable games that I probably would have never purchased on my own. Sadly, the good times are coming to an end, as Sony announced today that effective November 18th, they will impose further limits on game sharing.

PixelJunk Sidescroller Review

PixelJunk Sidescroller Review

No series of games is more synonymous with PSN than Q Games’s PixelJunk series. Spanning across numerous genres, each game in the PixelJunk series is a unique, creative take on an established genre — PixelJunk Racer was a fun (albeit hard) throwback to 2D racers on the NES, Monsters was an excellent tower defense style strategy game, and Eden was an indescribably beautiful take on 2D platforming.  2009′s PixelJunk Shooter was perhaps the most innovative in the series so far, marrying elements of a twin-stick shooter, a Metroid-style adventure game, and a physics based puzzle game into one amazing package.  Now, Q-Games has given us their take on the traditional side-scrolling shooter, and while the result isn’t as fresh or innovative as their previous products, it’s still a solid game in it’s own right.

Battlefield 3 is £49.99 on PSN, what’s that in dollars? $80

Battlefield 3 is £49.99 on PSN, what’s that in dollars? $80

An example of why region locks and price by region is a very controversial subject among gamers, the Playstation Network selling Battlefield 3 for £49.99 has caused a few sharply-turned heads across Europe and quite a bit of a stir, especially since most retailers are selling it for less than 40 quid. (Which is still over 60 dollars mind you at current rates)

Who Wants to be a Millionaire: South Park Edition available in November

Who Wants to be a Millionaire: South Park Edition available in November

You know, I thought Who Wants to Be a Millionaire died out when Regis Philbin left the show. Apparently I was wrong and it is still on air with Meredith Vieira as the host, continuing to be one of the most popular game shows on television. With that little tidbit, I would like to lead on to say that Deep Silver and doublesix have announced that the South Park version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire will be available for download on the PSN and Xbox Live on November 23rd. This is just the first of several different variations of this game that will become available in the coming year.
