Sony’s Playstation Vita will hit American shores in less than a month, and expectations are understandably high for the newest handheld powerhouse. While the Vita received a strangely cold reception when it launched in Japan over a month ago, the system still tops many gamers’ most wanted lists, and it’s easy to see why: I mean, who doesn’t want something that basically amounts to a portable PS3? But while the Vita is undeniably a sexy piece of hardware, we shouldn’t forget that this isn’t Sony’s first attempt at bringing the console experience to “the handheld ghetto” (as Sony calls it.) Yes, I’m talking about Sony’s poor, oft-forgotten original PSP, and now, on the eve of the launch of it’s successor, it seems pertinent to look back on the tumultuous history of Sony’s first foray into the handheld gaming market.

PlayStation Vita Users Get Plants Vs. Zombies at Launch
If for some reason you don’t yet own a smart phone and don’t have Plants Vs. Zombies installed on your device or you haven’t played PopCap’s famous game on any of it’s other recently ported platforms. Then this should be great news to you as Sony’s offical PlayStation Twitter account tweeted the little tid bit as well as the above picture.
It’s still unclear whether or not the Vita version will have newer levels or additional features to draw in the not-yet adopters or others who just want another platform to play on.
Vita is set to launch in North America in February.
PlayStation Vita Supports Multiple PSN Accounts
Sony’s PlayStation Vita was originally thought to house a single PlayStation Network account per handheld, but according to reports from Wired Game|Life, this isn’t the case.
Crystan MacKenzie, associate brand marketing manager at Sony says account information for PSN users will be stored on the memory cards, and not within the internal memory as initially suggested. Therefore, users can simply swap out memory chips if they wish to change accounts. Vita owners, however, will have to restore the system to its factory default settings in order to switch PSN accounts on the same memory card.
Preorder the PS Vita, Get It A Week Early
Excited for the Playstation Vita? Of course you are… and now, if you’re willing to shell out some cash a little early, you’ll be getting your Vita a little bit earlier than everybody else. Sony announced today that “select retailers” will now gladly let you put some cash down for the “Playstation Vita First Edition Bundle,” which gets you the 3G version of the Vita, a 4GB memory card, a carrying case, and a copy of Little Deviants, a minigame collection that shows off the Vita’s new control capabilities, all for $350.
PlayStation Vita Finally has a Release Date
Head of SCEA Jack Tretton, announced today the PlayStation Vita launch in several countries on stage at the Web 2.0 Summit. Unfortunately, you will not be able to get your hands on the device this holiday season but it is slated to launch in North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australia February 22, 2012. As you should know, the Vita will come in two versions to satisfy your budget, one for $249.99 without 3G and the other for $299.99 that has 3G (but make sure you know the limits.)
There have been a few games announced earlier which now have a release date, such as Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 which is one of the launch titles. We are hoping to get some more titles and release dates now that the Vita finally has one.
Battlefield 3 Trailer Makes You Warm and Fuzzy Inside
Typically, I don’t just post trailers for games unless there is other big news to go along with it. However, after watching the new trailer for Battlefield 3 that is just packed with jets, robots, jeeps, helicopters, explosions, more jets, and even more crisp looking explosions I just had to make sure it is seen!

Playstation Network Data Confirmed Stolen, Gets Undesirable Attention from Senator Blumenthal.
Homefront Review
Homefront is a first person shooter which has obtained a lot of attention, possibly due to its completely refreshing setting, when compared to similar games, such as Battlefield or Call of duty. Homefront was developed by a fairly inexperienced developer; Kaos studio. Kaos studio has just one previous title to their name – Frontlines: Fuel of War – which was barely a noteworthy game by any standard, despite sharing.
Sony’s Demand For Subpoena Against GeoHot’s Host Granted By Magistrate
Sony’s request to subpoena the web host of a hacker called GeoHot and also Google, Twitter and YouTube has been granted by federal Magistrate Joseph Spero in order to get information about anyone who comments, accesses or views any information which relates to the Sony hack. The proceedings are being called irresponsible in Sony and the judge’s part as it certainly is a quite large scale violation of privacy. Sony’s explanation for this plea is that the company needs the information to prove that the case should be tried in the San Francisco federal court which is close to the headquarters of the company.
