iPhone 5 to be revealed on Oct 4th

The next big event related to Apple on the calendar is scheduled for October 4th. This is allegedly the date for the unveiling of the iPhone 5 but for now it is only unofficial as Apple executives seem tongue tied about the rumors. However, the grapevine has it that the actual announcement will be made by Tim Cook who is going to conduct the entire event on that day. In addition to Mr. Cook, the event will be graced by the presence of Philip Schiller of the Worldwide Marketing department, Scott Forstall from the software department and Eddy Cue who has recently taken over the Internet Software and Services division.

Two years ago, a programmer for Disney Animation Studios named Terence Worley wrote the code for an iPhone app named Quake Tech. Its purpose: to track and send signals of earthquakes with reliable data from the U.S geographical Surveys and other feeds.

This iTunes Store application now has a rating of 4.5/ 5 stars. Its advanced technology uses the embedded GPS to calculate the user’s distance from the epicenter of the earthquake. This information can then be shared on sites like Facebook and Twitter automatically from the app itself. This is done by syncing the app with the owner’s Facebook or Twitter account.

Rumors are rife that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. and Apple Inc. will be expanding their foundry ties, which is a possible blow for Samsung. According to sources, Apple and TSMC have quietly entered into a foundry relationship. It has been reported that the A5 dual-core processors that Apple uses for the iPad 2 will be made by TSMC on a foundry basis. It has been said that the 40nm processors of TSMC will be used by Apple for the A5 and the company will also possibly work with the manufacturer on 28-nm processors.
