Want to Share Your Vita with Someone on a Different PSN Account? Too Bad

Recently, the news whether or not Sony’s newest handheld will allow for multiple PSN accounts per device or not and we finally have solid answers. A PSN account is not only tied to just a memory card, it’s tied to both the card and the Vita it’s self, Sony told Wired.

What this means for the customer is that “If a second person is using your Vita, it’s not just a case of switching out memory cards, it’s clearing out all of your saved data on the Vita itself when you do the factory reset.” Which, I guess, is their way of trying to combat piracy and make sure no one tries any work around (like that will ever work) in addition annoying the customers of families. Hopefully you didn’t plan on sharing your handheld with a sibling or use that Japanese account to get import games on your American Vita.

Just in case you think boosters get away with it, user banned for 5000 days after spending over $1000

Just in case you think boosters get away with it, user banned for 5000 days after spending over $1000

Now this is quite the fail, Modern Warfare 3 player HotShot__01 was landed with a hefty 14-year ban for boosting. If you don’t know, boosting is deliberate exploitation of game mechanics to level up at a much faster rate than you are normally expected to. The most common form is people willingly letting you kill them. This is considered an exploit and a bannable offense.

Viacom claims copyright on videos they don’t own

First, a 101 on property, Viacom owns Spike TV and the abomination we called the VGA which was ruthlessly panned by gamers before, during, and after it because of nobodies polluting the stage instead of people we care about. In most cases when you embarrass an entire industry, you take a cab to Mexico until it blows over.

EA bans user who gets sworn at. Punishing the victim much?

EA bans user who gets sworn at. Punishing the victim much?

Moderators and admins, whether for forums or online game, often have a reputation for being immature tyrants with thought processes similar to the common roach, and stories like this reinforce that stereotype.

Even though Battlefield is an M-rated game with mountains of violence and profanity, EA’s had the clever idea to employ a complete idiot who decides to tell people to cut down on profanity, and this is not the only stupid thing to happen. A user was banned from EA’s forums and Battlefield for being sworn at.

Say badass on the Battlefield forums, get banned for 3 days. Or for excessive trolling.

Battlefield 3 is a game loaded with profanity and graphic violence along with some controversial images. Unfortunately, the rules that apply to the games content do not apply to the players outside the game. You would think that the excessive in-game profanity would allow for any rendition of The Aristocrats in their games but, they don’t.

Generous Redditor gives a Jurassic Park-themed Jeep to Telltale Games. Gets it back damaged.

No good deed goes unpunished. Redditor Boomerjinks was contacted in the summer by a rep from Telltale Games. They told him they wished to borrow the jeep to use at a promotional booth at PAX. Who honestly doesn’t like Jurassic Park? In addition, an acquaintance of his was able to rack up some dollars for letting them use his DeLorean for a Back to the Future game a while ago. But then things went terribly wrong.

PETA stomps around in a tantrum, criticizes Battlefield 3 over the death of a rodent

Now this is quite hilarious. At one point in Battlefield 3, there is a QTE where you need to kill a disease-ridden rat to proceed or else you get spotted by the enemy and riddled with bullets. According to the German news site PCgames, PETA criticized the game saying that DICE should not do these kinds of things in the future. In their deluded sense of how the world works, they said that games and movies have been an inspiration for animal cruelty, saying that the necessary killing of such an insignificant animal during an important mission was “slaughter”.

Battlefield 3 Online Passes not working for some, EA says basically “Get a new one.”

Battlefield 3 Online Passes not working for some, EA says basically “Get a new one.”

To access the multiplayer content of Battlefield 3, the reason most people are picking the game up in the first place, you need to use a single-use code called an Online Pass. Pick the game up used, you have to pay $10 for a new pass. This isn’t a new thing however, as many games with online content curbed piracy by having a serial code which could only be used online once, the original DRM but only got in the way once.

EA Norway Caught Trying To Handpick Favorable Battlefield 3 Reviewers

EA is under fire recently after reports from Norwegian video game media outlets sitesĀ receivedĀ a semi-straight forward survey trying to show how they like past Battlefield games. This wouldn’t have been such an issue, if it wasn’t so they would only send the review copies of the game to outlets they felt would be “favorable” to the game and give it a high rating.

The survey questions are after the break.

Despite a recent Patch, Dark Souls has new Bugs

Despite a recent Patch, Dark Souls has new Bugs

From Software released a patch for the Japanese release of Dark Souls for the Playstation 3, fixing freezing problems associated with online, but the patch caused other problems to crop up. The developer confirmed two new glitches that are far more harmful than some problems with online play. The first is that some of the NPCs in the game are vanishing, which could theoretically cause the game or entire quests to be unwinnable. The second however is far minor and simply makes the game hang when loading the trophy set.

From Software has promised to fix these issues as soon as they can, so don’t fret if your NPCs have vanished clear off the face of the map with no sign of coming back, as this will be fixed in short order. Makes me wonder how a bug to fix freezing causes NPCs to disappear unless it was something to do with the NPCs themselves, but what do I know? I’m not a programmer.
