Humpday Bump: Late Night Portal Swag Edition

Humpday Bump: Late Night Portal Swag Edition

On Wednesdays I spend my time looking for a digital buffet of gaming goodies – I post them here on the Humpday Bump.

Today’s bump features a look at NECA’s next foray into bringing the Portal franchise to our reality with P-body’s Official Portal Device Replica. Apparently the original replica was so popular that NECA has decided to crank out 5,000 more units of the co-op version. This means that those looking to turn a profit over at E-bay will have to start coming up with less dimension splitting prices.

EA to Shut Down Rock Band for iOS and Leave Users in the Dark

With companies pushing digital games over physical copies of games they actively control when can and can not play games which they were previously unable to do with physical copies of games. However,Electronic Arts is making an unclear move now by shutting down their Rock Band game for iOS but that is not stopping them from continuing to sell it until the last day on the App Store.

RUMOR: Nexon To Buy Out Electronic Arts

RUMOR: Nexon To Buy Out Electronic Arts

Well, this news comes out of nowhere, but it’s being reported by multiple legitimate news agencies, so I might as well repeat it here: rumors are currently circulating in the financial community that Korean MMO publisher Nexon (best known for free-to-play games like Maple Story and Mabinogi,) is currently attempting to buy ownership of American mega-publisher EA.

More Free Mass Effect 3 DLC Coming on April 10

Earlier this week Bioware announced that they would “expand” Mass Effect 3′s divisive ending with a new DLC chapter that will hopefully get the legions of angry fanboys on the internet to put down their pitchforks. In a further gesture of good will, Bioware will also be providing the game’s first multiplayer expansion, entitled the “Resurgence Pack” for free as well.

Mass Effect 3 Gets An “Extended Cut” Ending As Free DLC This Summer

Mass Effect 3 Gets An “Extended Cut” Ending As Free DLC This Summer

It’s hard to talk about Mass Effect 3 without bringing up its mess of an ending. As I stated in my review, it’s a damn shame that ME3 managed to screw up it’s conclusion while pretty much getting everything else right, and I know I’m not the only one who feels that way. EA and Bioware are aware of fan complaints (and the personal threats and insults,) and they’re going to try to set things right this summer with the release of the “Extended Cut” free DLC pack.

Editorial: Yes, Mass Effect’s Ending Was Terrible, But The Fanboy Reaction Is Even Worse

Editorial: Yes, Mass Effect’s Ending Was Terrible, But The Fanboy Reaction Is Even Worse

I liked Mass Effect 3. I hated the ending. I wasn’t the only one, obviously, and for the past week nerds everywhere have made a Bruce Banner-ish transformation into unstoppable beings of pure, unsubstantiated rage. I’m all for voicing your dissatisfaction, but the means that many fanboys have used to share their hatred for Mass Effect 3 — stalking Bioware employees and launching personal attacks over the internet, running and crying to the government — only serve as a reminder that a good chunk of the gaming community really are the whiney, emotionally unbalanced man-children that the mass media likes to stereotype gamers as.

Origin Refunding Mass Effect 3 Purchases?

Origin Refunding Mass Effect 3 Purchases?

The controversies over Mass Effect 3 are heard loud and clear over the internet. If it’s not Tali’s face, then it’s the disappointing ending. However, it’s extremely rare for gamers to actually demand a refund for a game they’ve been let down by. In this day and age where piracy is much more rampant than it was ten or fifteen years ago, refunds are often met with a flat-out “no”. Regardless of this policy’s age, Origin has apparently been doling out refunds for the game.

EA Claims From Ashes DLC Character for Mass Effect 3 is not on the Disk. False.

DLC is controversial, on-disk DLC is something I believe is breaking a law somewhere, forcing people to fork over money to use something they have already bought. EA made this comment over on-disk DLC. Their response to a recent request for info was basically “We have already commented on this matter”.

Medal of Honor Warfighter Pre-order Bonus, Trailer and Release Date

There’s been plenty of information rocketing out of EA lately, for the upcoming Medal of Honor sequel. Possibly the most pertinent is the narrowed release date of October 23, 2012. That’s still a few months away yet, but already they’ve announced what early adopters will get to look forward to.
