Mass Effect 3 Action Figures Include In-game Bonuses

Mass Effect 3 Action Figures Include In-game Bonuses

Hyped for Mass Effect 3? Did you buy an N7 hoodie for the specific purpose of wearing it while you play Shepard’s final adventure? Got a “Normandy” vanity plate for your car? Well, then you probably already have both waves of Bioware’s upcoming set of Mass Effect action figures pre-ordered, but just in case you haven’t given in to temptation yet, EA is giving you another incentive to pick up these 7″ recreations of Shepard’s squad — each figure will include bonus, randomized DLC codes for use on the Xbox 360 or PC versions of the game.

Bioware is stating that the DLC codes included in each action figure are “slightly randomized” and give you powerful new weapons and abilities to use within Mass Effect 3. Unfortunately, the action figures won’t be available until April or May, so you may have finished ME3 by the time these toys hit store shelves. Then again, the included DLC might just be enough of an incentive to play the game over again.

I’m of mixed opinion on this; on the one hand, it’s a shameless cash grab on EA’s part to get people to pay more for in-game content, but on the other hand, I’m a huge Mass Effect nerd and was probably going to buy some of these action figures anyway, so it’s nice that I’m getting a little extra bonus for doing so. Mass Effect 3 comes out for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on March 6th.

Mass Effect 3 / Kingdom of Amalur Cross-promotion Announced

EA has two big action RPG’s coming out this winter: Bioware’s Mass Effect 3 and 38 Studios’ Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. While the sci-fi epic and the fantasy hack-and-slash might not seem like the most compatible material for a cross-over, EA has announced some incentives for players who try to demos for both games:

Black Swan composer working on Mass Effect 3

Black Swan composer working on Mass Effect 3

Clint Mansell, a composer who you may not know by name, but by the work he has done in films such as Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler, all of which were critically acclaimed, is now on board to do some music for a critically acclaimed game, Mass Effect 3. The best part about this news is that he is not the only high profile composer working on this game.

Battlefield 3 is 50% off on Origin until Christmas

Battlefield 3 is 50% off on Origin until Christmas

EA is really trying to prove their Origin service is an up and comer to Steams online game marketplace, with plenty of deals, though 50% of a somewhat high profile game isn’t quite as impressive as the 80 and 90% off deals Valve offers. Regardless of what EA’s trying to do this is still a great deal if you haven’t had the chance to experience the amazing multiplayer that Battlefield 3 offers.

Battlefield Play4Free users ripped off, premium items removed because of “imbalance”

Battlefield Play4Free users ripped off, premium items removed because of “imbalance”

Recently, Easy Studios added an update to BFP4F which let players customize their weapons and buy upgrades. Among these were Legacy weapon attachments, which many users paid money for. The Legacy upgrades however brought with them balance issues, which are the leading cause of drama on forums in games most of the time. In an ideal world you would alter the stats of these weapons or make upgrades easier to get in order the solve this, but what they did is of questionable legality at best.

[Rumour] Dragon Age series to get multiplayer using Frost Bite Engine

[Rumour] Dragon Age series to get multiplayer using Frost Bite Engine

According to Kotaku, from insider information, Dragon Age will be getting the multiplayer treatment. This rumour is not entirely far off as Bioware has included mutiplayer in their 3 iteration of their popular sci-fi RPG, though this makes less sense to me, in terms of gameplay. The mutiplayer will include PVP and PVE interactions as well as the ability to fight, and play as, a dragon (awesome if true).

Battlefield 3 being sold illegally in Iran

Battlefield 3 being sold illegally in Iran

After an unnamed deputy, with the security and intelligence division of Iran’s police, announced that there would be a permanent ban on the selling of Battlefield 3, many game stores were raided and found to have copies of the game for sale. Though EA has no resellers in that region, meaning it was not meant to even be available, many store owners acquired the game by importing and more nefarious means to sell it, illegally.

More Xbox Live users are Playing Skyrim than Battlefield 3

More Xbox Live users are Playing Skyrim than Battlefield 3

It is already known that Skyrim sold a whopping 3.5 Million copies in its first two days, which may not seem like much for a AAA title, but for an RPG of this sort that is mighty impressive. So, it may be no wonder that after so many people were playing it while logged in to the Xbox Live service last week. Below is the full list of the top 20 games played by Xbox Live users. Skyrim ranks third and Battlefield 3 follows right behind in fourth.

EA bans user who gets sworn at. Punishing the victim much?

EA bans user who gets sworn at. Punishing the victim much?

Moderators and admins, whether for forums or online game, often have a reputation for being immature tyrants with thought processes similar to the common roach, and stories like this reinforce that stereotype.

Even though Battlefield is an M-rated game with mountains of violence and profanity, EA’s had the clever idea to employ a complete idiot who decides to tell people to cut down on profanity, and this is not the only stupid thing to happen. A user was banned from EA’s forums and Battlefield for being sworn at.

Say badass on the Battlefield forums, get banned for 3 days. Or for excessive trolling.

Say badass on the Battlefield forums, get banned for 3 days. Or for excessive trolling.

Battlefield 3 is a game loaded with profanity and graphic violence along with some controversial images. Unfortunately, the rules that apply to the games content do not apply to the players outside the game. You would think that the excessive in-game profanity would allow for any rendition of The Aristocrats in their games but, they don’t.

Need For Speed: The Run Review – I can has load screen?!

Need For Speed: The Run Review – I can has load screen?!

Electronic Arts yearly installment of their Need for Speed Hot Pursuit-esque racing game has finally come out. The game was originally shown off at E3 and it brought me nothing but joy playing it as an action packed driving game and heavy duty policing to add a nice twist to my racing game addiction. However, getting into the game after release was a significantly different story!
