This year, 2011, has come and gone and with it brought some of the most amazing games, so many that it may actually be the best year for games of this generation. It was certainly hard enough to narrow that list of countless AAA games to just five, but below is my personal choices for this year, ordered by my overall enjoyment of them(hint: you won’t be surprised by my number one choice).
Mark October 11 on your calendars Dragon Age fans as the latest DLC package, Mark of The Assassin, is set to release then. It’s not only big news because it’s another reason to venture back to Kirkwall but because a certain up and coming indie film star will be voicing the new character present in the DLC.
The blood of Hawke is being hunted in the latest DLC from Bioware for their popular RPG Dragon Age II. In this adventure add-on Hawke must venture to a Grey Warden prison to discover why he is being hunted and why his lineage is the cause for this. This adventure outside Kirkwall will unearth secrets of Hawkes past
Valve’s digital distribution service Steam has declared this week as a week of EA sales. Starting with Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2, with a 50% and 25% discount on each respectively.
If you’ve not gotten Steam yet, this is a good time to give it a try. Criticisms of EA aside, they do have solid titles every now and then, and they’re looking to be put on sale over the next few days. You can visit Steam here if you’ve never been there and haven’t started using it. Grab some titles for yourself when they’re on sale, which is very often.
Only six days to go until Dragon Age II is released and I couldn’t be more excited, especially after playing the demo.The PC peripheral company, Razer, also seems to have taken an interest in the title as they plan on releasing DA2 branded devices and messenger bag, all of which look fantastic. This is similar to what they had done with the Tron line of peripherals.
Bioware has just released a trailer for the launch day Downloadable content for Dragon II, which will feature a new character and extra missions. According to EA, the DLC lets you “adventure alongside Sebastian Vael, an archer of noble birth, as he seeks revenge for the brutal murder of his family. Aid him in his quest, and direct his righteous wrath on your enemies.”
If you weren’t one of the lucky ones that got early access to the demo of Biowares’ latest RPG at Comic-con or other such events then you will still get your chance to see the changes and upgrades before the official game release in March. The demo will be about 15 minutes of gameplay allowing you to play as Hawke or his mage companion.
Those who have played Drgaon Age: Origins: The Awakening will certainly remember Anders as the sarcastic mage that tried escaping from the grasp of the Cirlce of Magi, players will discover him having abandoned the Grey Wardens as well in Dragon Age II. Hawke will run into the rogue mage in the city of Kirkwall.
This may not be big news, but it is exciting news. I have always been a fan of various collector’s editions of just about anything and Dragon Age 2 just happens to be my most anticipated game of the year. So, in case you share a similar excitement for the world of Ferelden then hop on the Gamestop website and pre-order this beautiful book.
Biowares’ Fantasy epic series is getting sequel which is not exactly a sequel. Regardless of how it fits into the storyline it will be a great improvement from its predecessor, or at least the folks at Bioware seem to think so. Check out the video below for all the details, as they have taken much of the fans feedback and also their own personal experience with Origins and turned it into some great.
As of a week ago Amazon started taking Pre-orders for Dragon Age II, the sequel to the well received Dragon Age: Origins. If you pre-order the game on amazon right now it will automatically be upgraded to the Signature Series edition of the game. This special edition will includes Dragon Age II plus download codes for a bonus mission and character, a downloadable game soundtrack, an exclusive in-game digital armoury featuring multiple weapons, as well as additional downloadable items.
While at ComicCon this year I did get a chance to get some hands-on time with this game. Now for those of you who were not lucky enough to be there, here is the trailer for your viewing pleasure. It looks amazing and this trailer does a good job of showing off the epic-ness of it, also the updated logo makes an appearance here as well. Bioware has already announced that it plans to release DLC soon after the games release on March 8th 2011, much like we have come to expect with Origins, hopefully. Excited? I know I am.
