Dead Island was a special game from 2011, it was full of quirks and potential problems, but at the core was a great hack and slash first person title. I have a hard time calling Dead Island a FPS, because there is a much stronger emphasis on melee attack than there ever was on shooting.
Details this afternoon have emerged regarding title update number 8 on Modern Warfare 3. Minor issues and tweaks have been made concerning lag compensation, host advantage, and faster youtube uploads.
Leading up to the release of Fenix Rises next week, enjoy another flythrough of the new map “Slab”. Slab is a prison based map that should fit the themes of Gears of War quite well. Who knows, maybe Slab has some relation to the prison that Marcus is broken out of at the beginning of Gears of War 1.
Along with the news of the “Fenix Rising” achievements, Epic has released a flythrough of one of the upcoming maps. Say what you will about Gears maps, but I happen to appreciate the symmetry and lines of sight in most of their maps. Even in the days of Unreal Tournament, Epic has always provided some of the industries most memorable multiplayer arenas.
As Epic promised, Gears of War 3 has some new content around the corner on January 17th. “Fenix Rising” will be a new muitplayer map pack that will take us back to the home of Marcus Fenix. You may remember playing through this segment as the “prologue” section of Gears 3. Not all the maps have been exposed, but this new list of achievements have surfaced on Epics website.
Even though Nintendo have a very firm stance on DLC, they plan to introduce paid DLC to its games for the first time in the company’s ridiculously-long history. They are late to the party, DLC is everywhere, and is a loved, hated, and often controversial subject among gamers. However, it’s here to stay.
Gears of War 3’s “RAAMS Shadow” DLC launched today to kick of Gearsmas 2011. For the first crack at campaign DLC for Gears 3, it is fantastic. Epic places you in the boots of Zeta squad, a familiar yet fresh 4 man wrecking crew for the COG. The content take place prior to the events of Gears 1, just after E day, but also still ties in some familiar environments and faces.
The next piece of DLC is heading your way tomorrow and will feature 10 brand new cars for the popular racing simulator. December 6t,h the IGN-branded pack will be available on XBL for the usual 560MSP or for free for those who spent 2400MSP on the Forza Motorsports 4 Season pass (which gives you all six DLC packs for a 30% discount). If you try and find DLC for Nintendo products, the list is pitiful compared to the PS3, 360, and PC no matter how you look at it. DLC is wraught with satisfied customers but is also a controversial practice. Reggie Fils-Aime weighed in on this while being interviewed by AOL Games Blog.
Nippon Ichi has announced some new DLC for Disgaea 4 along with its pricing, full list with some explanations of the characters after the jump.
In case you may not have noticed, Batmam: Arkham City may have provided you lucky Batman lovers with some beta time for the upcoming Gotham City Impostors. Turns out that the beta will launch sometime in December, and the release date is only a month to follow. Gotham City Impostors will be available January 10th 2012, this is a downloadable title as well.
As posted on Major Nelsons blog, Gears of War 3 is due for it’s first piece of DLC that is not just an over-priced aesthetic upgrade. RAAM’s Shadow will supposedly add 3 hours of gameplay and add more depth to the story that preceded the events of the first game. In addition to this there will be new characters introduced to the story elements as well as some multiplayer content.
