Sony had sent out documents to Gamestop, which were later winding up in the hands of the staff at Kotaku that indicated that Sony was disabling HD content from component cables. The memo had said “The ‘K’ systems will come with an AV cable, however, if you want to play a game or watch a movie in high definition you must use an HDMI cable”, however, the report is not that accurate.

Mortal Kombat Blu-Ray Will Provide PS3 Players With Exclusive Costume
The Mortal Kombat films are on of the few enjoyable adaptations based on a video game, though arguably the second one was much worse. Regardless of the films merits it may be worth a purchase come April 19, when the films are re-released on Blu-Ray with the inclusion of download code for an exclusive Jade Costume.

3D is The Future Even a Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away
This may not be gaming news, but I am sure it will appeal to many of our readers.
George Lucas is getting on the latest technology since HD, that is 3D, and he wants to spruce up those sci-fi classics of his. That’s right, Star Wars is getting the 3D treatment, and I am sure this will eventually be a trend to look for in other multi-million selling classics, maybe Titanic will be next. You will be waiting until 2012 to get your first taste of the experience as it takes a fair amount of time to convert to 3D, properly.
Sony’s working on successor to Blu-ray
Is Blu-ray going to be a thing of the past already? Maybe ,maybe not. Today Sony and Tohoku University announced that they have developed a new laser technology, that will able to fit 25 times the data that a Blu-ray disc can. A standard Blu-ray disc can hold up to 50GBs of memory on it, for all you people who don’t want to do the math this means the new disc format can hold 1TB… that’s a lot of cheese.
This new laser technology is a beast; it generates a high-powered optical pulsing speed of 3 picoseconds (three trillionths of a second) in a wavelength of 405 nanometers. In other words it can encode faster and use less space on the physical size of the disc, so it can fit more memory. This is Sony’s plan as a successor to the Blu-ray. But don’t think Sony will be phasing it out just yet, we probably won’t be seeing these disc’s for a while. But to us gamers, this could mean better graphics, longer games and more complex gameplay.
