Mass Effect 3 Action Figures Include In-game Bonuses

Mass Effect 3 Action Figures Include In-game Bonuses

Hyped for Mass Effect 3? Did you buy an N7 hoodie for the specific purpose of wearing it while you play Shepard’s final adventure? Got a “Normandy” vanity plate for your car? Well, then you probably already have both waves of Bioware’s upcoming set of Mass Effect action figures pre-ordered, but just in case you haven’t given in to temptation yet, EA is giving you another incentive to pick up these 7″ recreations of Shepard’s squad — each figure will include bonus, randomized DLC codes for use on the Xbox 360 or PC versions of the game.

Bioware is stating that the DLC codes included in each action figure are “slightly randomized” and give you powerful new weapons and abilities to use within Mass Effect 3. Unfortunately, the action figures won’t be available until April or May, so you may have finished ME3 by the time these toys hit store shelves. Then again, the included DLC might just be enough of an incentive to play the game over again.

I’m of mixed opinion on this; on the one hand, it’s a shameless cash grab on EA’s part to get people to pay more for in-game content, but on the other hand, I’m a huge Mass Effect nerd and was probably going to buy some of these action figures anyway, so it’s nice that I’m getting a little extra bonus for doing so. Mass Effect 3 comes out for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on March 6th.

Mass Effect 3 / Kingdom of Amalur Cross-promotion Announced

EA has two big action RPG’s coming out this winter: Bioware’s Mass Effect 3 and 38 Studios’ Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. While the sci-fi epic and the fantasy hack-and-slash might not seem like the most compatible material for a cross-over, EA has announced some incentives for players who try to demos for both games:

Black Swan composer working on Mass Effect 3

Black Swan composer working on Mass Effect 3

Clint Mansell, a composer who you may not know by name, but by the work he has done in films such as Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler, all of which were critically acclaimed, is now on board to do some music for a critically acclaimed game, Mass Effect 3. The best part about this news is that he is not the only high profile composer working on this game.

[Rumour] Dragon Age series to get multiplayer using Frost Bite Engine

[Rumour] Dragon Age series to get multiplayer using Frost Bite Engine

According to Kotaku, from insider information, Dragon Age will be getting the multiplayer treatment. This rumour is not entirely far off as Bioware has included mutiplayer in their 3 iteration of their popular sci-fi RPG, though this makes less sense to me, in terms of gameplay. The mutiplayer will include PVP and PVE interactions as well as the ability to fight, and play as, a dragon (awesome if true).

Dragon Age II Review

Dragon Age II Review

A little over a year had passed between the release of Origins and Dragon Age II but quite a bit has changed, mostly for the better, but along with the upgrade came some new issues that were not present in the original. It will be hard not to compare this game directly to Origins, as it directly set the foundation that lays under most of the sequel and the events that occurred in the first are also reflected in this, but I will keep it as limited as possible.

Bioware likely to alter Mass Effect 3 story based on leak feedback

Bioware likely to alter Mass Effect 3 story based on leak feedback

As you may know, the script to Mass Effect 3 was leaked. Co-founders of BioWare Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk said that the leak of the game will be a positive thing if it generates interest in the sci-fi epic series. Muzyka said “In the big picture, some more stories are generated around it and more interest in the game. We’re really proud with how it’s shaping up. It’s going to be the best Mass Effect yet.”

First Pic of Bioware’s New Game Revealed

First Pic of Bioware’s New Game Revealed

Game Informer posted the first teaser pic for Bioware’s next game today, and the internet is already rife with speculation about what the new game could be.  With the Mass Effect trilogy wrapping up next March with the release of third (and presumably, final) game in the series, Bioware seems to be reaching out of their traditional nerd-focused sci-fi and fantasy comfort zone with their next game, which, judging from the lone screenshot, looks like it might be some sort of vehicle focused, post apocalyptic action game of some kind.
