Bethesda: “We’re addressng that in the [PS3] 1.4 update planned for this month.”

The ‘that’ is the lag problems that plague the PS3 version of Skyrim, which were discovered quickly after many became addicted to the latest entry in the Elder Scrolls series. See, how this bug works is that too many things have to be kept track of by the game, and they don’t despawn.

A previous patch reduced the symptoms of the lag which rendered Skyrim completely unplayable after a period of time, but did not completely fix it. The 1.4 patch has been confirmed to fix the problem by the Bethesda Blog’s official Twitter account. Hopefully this time they’ll solve the issue so we can play Skyrim without risk of losing progress.

Whenever you suffer this problem or not, this will be their second go at fixing this bug which also plagued a Fallout game, meaning that it’s an engine problem rather than a problem with the game itself. Bethesda games have never been known for their stability so things like this have come to be expected of their games, and are often forgiven due to the extreme size and scope of their game worlds.

Now, polish my spear.

More Xbox Live users are Playing Skyrim than Battlefield 3

It is already known that Skyrim sold a whopping 3.5 Million copies in its first two days, which may not seem like much for a AAA title, but for an RPG of this sort that is mighty impressive. So, it may be no wonder that after so many people were playing it while logged in to the Xbox Live service last week. Below is the full list of the top 20 games played by Xbox Live users. Skyrim ranks third and Battlefield 3 follows right behind in fourth.

Skyrim’s popularity causes shortages with its sales numbers, shifts millions of copies.

After creating what is basically a digital copy of the US mint, Bethesda’s release of Skyrim has been met with mountains of sales and popularity, sucking up people’s time and putting money in plenty of pockets. Even when I went to my local Wal-Mart it was completely sold out on all platforms multiple times.

Just thought this would be something our readers would be interested in seeing if they’re one of the six or seven people who haven’t bought Skyrim yet, which has made headlines since its release on 11/11/11. Graphical and player count comparison after the jump along with a message from Bethesda regarding XBox users.

Skyrim crosses lines, features group cannibalism.

Skyrim crosses lines, features group cannibalism.

Games have a lot of taboos in them, murder being the most common, theft following closely behind, some may allow torture, framing, or give some moral decisions in the storyline. Cannibalism of human flesh is often left for horror games like Resident Evil or perhaps a Lovecraftian horror due to zombification or outright insanity. Skyrim however allows it as a choice with no pressure.

Skyrim PC Specifications

Skyrim PC Specifications

So, what does it take to run the most anticipated RPG of the year? Not all that much actually, unless you want to run it on max settings. Bethesda recently unveiled what your rig needs to handle Skyrim for both low and high settings. Check after the break for the full details. My $400 desktop could probably run the game on medium settings.

Fallout MMO Development Can Now Continue

Fallout MMO Development Can Now Continue

These days it seems like every vaguely popular franchise is getting it’s own MMO — Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Star Wars, DC Universe, hell, even Hello Kitty — so it’s kind of weird that some franchises that would be perfectly suited to becoming MMO’s (*cough*Pokemon*cough*) haven’t made the jump online yet.  Now, after years of legal disputes and court cases, Fallout may be making the long-awaited jump into the MMO market, now that publisher Interplay has won a court case against fellow Fallout publisher/developer Bethesda.

First Look at RAGE: Overview And First Mission

First Look at RAGE: Overview And First Mission

The game I pre-ordered and waited an ungodly amount of time for finally arrived via my sexy mail carrier’s sweaty man-hands and nobody was more excited than I (probably because I was the only one home). After playing through a few quests, here are my first impressions.
