The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Review

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Review

You remember when you first heard about the Wii? You remember all those promo videos that Nintendo released of people doing wildly exaggerated motions with the Wii Remote, and how those motions were perfectly recreated in the completely fake gameplay trailers? You remember how everybody’s imagination ran wild with the possible gameplay applications of the new controller, and how awesome you thought it was going to actually swing the Master Sword in Twilight Princess?

Review: Shaun White Skateboarding Makes Anything Else Worth the Wait

Review: Shaun White Skateboarding Makes Anything Else Worth the Wait

2007 was a good year for pretending to be a skateboarder. What could possibly have been the greatest installment in the Tony Hawk franchise, Proving Ground, pacified me for two full years. Up until that point, every Tony Hawk game had been worth revisiting time and time again, even years after their initial release. Then Ride, Shred, and Shaun White Skateboarding came out.

Review: And Yet It Moves

Review: And Yet It Moves

Another game from the Humble Indie Bundle. And Yet It Moves is a platformer with physics elements and a different form of gameplay you wouldn’t expect in the platform genre. And Yet It Moves’ concept involves moving through a dangerous area full of rocks and other obstacles that need to be overcome by the character’s ability to rotate the world as the world, quite literally, revolves around him.

Memorex Game Controller Plus Review

Memorex Game Controller Plus Review

Memorex was kind enough to send IGXPPro a Game Controller Plus for the Nintendo Wii. The controller is wireless as all WiiMotes are, and features the added ability of Wii Motion Plus, without sacrificing the size of the controller. This feature I put to the test on one of the few games that really takes advantage of Motion Plus, Red Steel 2.

Batman: The Brave and The Bold Review

Batman: The Brave and The Bold Review

In case you didn’t know, Batman: The Brave and The Bold is actually a pretty good show.  I know, it doesn’t look like it:  At first glance it looks like Batman for preschoolers, but give it a chance:  It’s combination of campy, tongue-in-cheek humor,  self-aware writing, and willingness to poke fun at the occasionally all-to-serious DC Universe make it one of the funniest, and just plain fun to watch, cartoons in recent memory.

Metroid Other M Review

Metroid Other M Review

Super NES classic Super Metroid is one of the best games of all time.  That’s not an opinion, that’s a fact, at least as far as I’m concerned;  it was a beautifully crafted, impeccably balanced, gorgeous (for 16-bit,) masterpiece that, while somewhat of a sleeper hit when it was originally released, has since attained legendary status thanks to years of praise from fans and critics alike.  Hell, respected gaming magazine EGM emphatically named it their number one game of all time in their one hundredth issue.

GoldenEye 007 – Bond is Back and Better Then Ever – First Impressions

GoldenEye 007 – Bond is Back and Better Then Ever – First Impressions

The original N64 classic Goldeneye set a standard for all first person shooters to come after it, it was a pioneer of the genre that still dominates the gaming industry today. Alot of time has come and gone since this classic and by the looks of things Nintendo has taken their time for a reason. The developer team at EuroCom has not only revived a great franchise, but have also re invented what a FPS can be on the Nintendo Wii.

Sin and Punishment: Star Successor Review

Sin and Punishment: Star Successor Review

The Wii doesn’t exactly have a stellar reputation, at least as far as “hardcore” gamers are concerned; while it’s opened up gaming to a new segment of the population that previously dismissed it, it’s library of casual games and… well, honestly, terrible, barely-playable shovelware has more or less alienated Nintendo’s traditional fan base from the system.  Nintendo recently seems to have recognized the issue, and this year the Wii has had more “core” focused releases than perhaps in all it’s previous years combined; between stellar updates to classic franchises like Super Mario Galaxy 2, the mature themed No More Heroes 2, or the addictive Monster Hunter Tri, Nintendo seems to be using 2010 as an apology for neglecting their core fanbase for so many years.
