Tape Recorder From The Future

Tape Recorder From The Future

We’ve heard of tablets with keyboard docks: Asus Transfomer TF300 and laptops with hinges enabling the use of a tablet: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga. But ever wonder if all three devices can be put into one? The Asus PadFone demonstrates this very well, and it looks a lot like a futuristic tape recorder too. The smartphone (PadFone) can be inserted into the back of the tablet (PadFone Station) like a tape into a tape recorder and like the TF300, there will be a keyboard dock for the tablet. It has also been confirmed that there will be contract prices from phone carriers. The smartphone itself will be priced at $610 US, the smartphone, tablet and bluetooth stylus which doubles as a headset will value $850 US, and the whole package including the keyboard dock will cost a total of $980 US.

A Whole New Meaning of Flexibility

A Whole New Meaning of Flexibility

If you’ve read my other review on the Asus Transformer Pad TF300 then you’re in for a bit of surprise. Instead of a tablet with a keyboard dock add-on making it a netbook, we now have the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga, which is an ultrabook that is able to bend back into a tablet. With a 360 degree dual-hinge flip and fold design, the Yoga will be available in the second half of 2012 with an estimated starting retail price of $1,199. Mentioned at CES 2012, the Yoga will have 4 modes enabled by the hinges. With no specified names for these positional stands, the modes are standard laptop, convertible tablet, stand, and tent.

HP Envy 15: Sleek & Performance All-in-One

HP Envy 15: Sleek & Performance All-in-One

Looking for a cheap Macbook Pro clone? The HP Envy 15-3040nr is an 15.6″ laptop with a performance CPU and GPU. Not only is it powerful in terms of specs but is also sleek with a nice design by HP. The entire exterior of the Envy 15 is made of aluminium with a black casing which has the HP logo in the bottom hand corner of the shell. It is quite light weight in terms of powerful laptops because it weighs 5.79 pounds and is only 1.1″ thick.

Review: Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony

Review: Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony

A steampunk alternate-history vertical bullet hell shooter. Jamestown is a very interesting concept and a very good indie game that’s worth getting if you ever get the chance. I had received the Humble Indie Bundle 4 from a generous person when it came out, and Jamestown, one of bundles titles, and I had overlooked it right away, though, after later installing it, I found a very good game.

Batman: Arkham City Review

Batman: Arkham City Review

Batman: Arkham Asylum was to superhero video games what Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins was to Batman movies; just as Nolan’s film proved that it was possible to create a gritty, intelligent crime drama starring The Caped Crusader (who’s film appearances up until that point had been limited to campy garbage,) Arkham Asylum likewise proved that, after years of appearing in shovelware and quick movie cash-ins, it was indeed possible to create a good game starring Batman. So does that make Arkham Asylum’s sequel, Arkham City, the gaming equivalent of The Dark Knight? Well, not quite, but it’s still an amazing game in it’s own right.

Battlefield 3 Review

Battlefield 3 Review

When Battlefield: Bad Company 2 came out last year, I overheard some classmates talking about how they spent the whole weekend playing the game’s multiplayer, telling the usual gamer war stories of close matches or about how some weapons were overpowered or how the other team was filled with cheap bastards.  For their entire conversation they talked exclusively about the multiplayer aspects of the game until I finally interjected.

“What about the single-player?” I asked.

“What? Single player? Nobody plays the campaign in these games anymore.”

The Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Review – It’s Awesome

The Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Review – It’s Awesome

I sat down and played through the whole Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign (because it looks like three, maybe four other people did as well and I kind of wanted to even the playing field) in five and a half hours. The following are my thoughts on the campaign in its entirety.
