Get those flame throwers ready soldier. EA and Dice have an all new expansion for their extremely popular first person shooter Battlefield Bad Company 2.
ilomilo Trial First Impressions
Who would have thought this childish-looking, puzzle title (that lacks capitalization) would be so enjoyable. The small Swedish developer, Southend, has had little media mention, as has the game. After having played through the tutorial and first few stages I am sure this is going to be a great game for the holiday season. There are so few childrens games on XBLA, that also appeal to an older audience, this is one of them.
Metroid Other M Review
Super NES classic Super Metroid is one of the best games of all time. That’s not an opinion, that’s a fact, at least as far as I’m concerned; it was a beautifully crafted, impeccably balanced, gorgeous (for 16-bit,) masterpiece that, while somewhat of a sleeper hit when it was originally released, has since attained legendary status thanks to years of praise from fans and critics alike. Hell, respected gaming magazine EGM emphatically named it their number one game of all time in their one hundredth issue.
Fable III Review
GoldenEye 007 – Bond is Back and Better Then Ever – First Impressions
The original N64 classic Goldeneye set a standard for all first person shooters to come after it, it was a pioneer of the genre that still dominates the gaming industry today. Alot of time has come and gone since this classic and by the looks of things Nintendo has taken their time for a reason. The developer team at EuroCom has not only revived a great franchise, but have also re invented what a FPS can be on the Nintendo Wii.
Fallout New Vegas Review
Fallout New Vegas might just be the best RPG ever made. Just one problem though: It isn’t finished.
I’ve spent the last week or so wandering across the post apocalyptic expanse of the Mojave Wasteland, fighting off raiders, thieves, mutated insects, and radioactive monsters, all while double and triple-crossing the various armies, politicians, and power-hungry maniacs who populate (and are fighting for control of) the titular city of New Vegas. This is a game that I’ve already poured dozens of hours into, and judging by the amount of incomplete sidequests I have left to do and the vast swaths of unexplored territory still remaining on my map, I’m still probably going to have to pour dozens of more hours into this game before I’ve seen all of the content it has to offer.
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit First Impressions
Shortly after it was announced that EA / Criterion Games would be releasing a demo for Need For Speed it became available on XBLA; and tomorrow it will be available on PSN. I downloaded and started it playing it straight away, as this is a game I have been looking forward to for some time.
Sin and Punishment: Star Successor Review
The Wii doesn’t exactly have a stellar reputation, at least as far as “hardcore” gamers are concerned; while it’s opened up gaming to a new segment of the population that previously dismissed it, it’s library of casual games and… well, honestly, terrible, barely-playable shovelware has more or less alienated Nintendo’s traditional fan base from the system. Nintendo recently seems to have recognized the issue, and this year the Wii has had more “core” focused releases than perhaps in all it’s previous years combined; between stellar updates to classic franchises like Super Mario Galaxy 2, the mature themed No More Heroes 2, or the addictive Monster Hunter Tri, Nintendo seems to be using 2010 as an apology for neglecting their core fanbase for so many years.
Final Fantasy XIII Review
Final Fantasy XIII is a divisive game; people either love it or they hate it. What do I think of it? Well… I guess I’m weird, because I don’t really like it, nor do I hate it outright either. To put it simply, FF13 is equally brilliant and terrible. It’s a weird mishmash of incredibly high production values mixed with some surprisingly half-assed gameplay elements that create an overall mediocre final product. It’s not the worst game ever made, but it’s certainly not anywhere close to being the best either.
Scott Pilgrim vs The World Review
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was a great movie that referenced video games with a type of respect and genuine admiration that you’ll probably never see again within the mainstream media. Too bad then that it completely bombed at the box office, and while I don’t have an exact figure of how many tickets it sold, I’m pretty sure at least 4 people watched it.
Which is a good thing, because now you should be able to wrangle up 3 other friends to play the (mostly) great Scott Pilgrim game with you.
Halo: Reach Review
The Halo series gets a lot of flak; it’s hated on by contrarians because it’s popular and it’s trendy to hate anything that has any sort of sizable following, and it’s obviously hated by Sony and PC fanboys who simply blindly dismiss anything that isn’t on their platform of choice. Of course, some of that hate stems from the people that populate Halo’s online community, which seems like it’s made almost entirely of pre-pubescent internet tough guys and dudes who really love raised trucks. But all of these reasons to hate Halo are completely unfair, because regardless of what platform it’s on, or the audience it attracts, the fact is the games within the Halo series have consistently and undeniably been great, and out of all of them, the newest entry in the franchise, Halo Reach, is simply the best.
