Wii U Super Mario Game to be Unveiled at E3

Wii U Super Mario Game to be Unveiled at E3

The Gamecube, Wii, and 3DS all launched without a Mario game, and while the Wii managed to have a successful launch without Nintendo’s mascot, the Gamecube and the 3DS struggled early on without gaming’s favorite Italian stereotype there to help sell systems. Nintendo’s not taking any chances with the Wii U, as they let it slip today that a new Super Mario Bros. game will be unveiled for their strange new system at this year’s E3.

Where Does All That Kickstarter Money Go?

Where Does All That Kickstarter Money Go?

Recently I’ve been writing about how Kickstarter is changing the way smaller games do business. This weekend we saw the effects of more open and transparent development with an honest Reddit AMA from Brian Fargo and Chris Avellone ofWasteland 2. It seems without publishers in the way, developers may be more inclined to discuss development specifics with players. Well today we learned that some of those specifics may also include financial details as well. Warballoon, the makers of Star Command, have posted an update on their Kickstarter explaining where all of their pledge money went. Surprisingly, not that much went into the actual game.

Wasteland 2 Devs Answer Community Questions on Reddit

Wasteland 2 Devs Answer Community Questions on Reddit

With their Kickstarter over in less than 3 days, Wasteland 2 developers, inXile Entertainment, have taken to Reddit to answer the community’s questions regarding the game’s development. It makes sense for a game funded by the community to have these sorts of open, anyone-can-join Q&A sessions, and what better place to have them than Reddit? Brian Fargo and Chris Avellone fielded questions surrounding production and design in yesterday’s AMA and without a publisher looking over their shoulders they were able to answer whatever questions they felt like, without filtering their answers through the typical corporate public relations filters. So while freedom from publishers may be a good thing for development, it seems even better for developer/fan communications.

A Leisurely Interview with Gaming Legend Al Lowe

A Leisurely Interview with Gaming Legend Al Lowe

It’s become the custom – in only a few months I might add – to have those responsible for resurrecting a game through Kickstarter to give an interview talking about where the game came from and where it is now going. Al Lowe, former Sierra programmer and creator of the original Leisure Suit Larry, and Paul Trowe, Al’s former Sierra Colleague, sat down with Rock, Paper, Shotgun this week to talk about the recreation of yet another old-school gaming franchise.

Persona 4 Anime Recruits Game’s English Dub Cast, Forgets to Tell Them

Persona 4 Anime Recruits Game’s English Dub Cast, Forgets to Tell Them

The Persona 4 anime is coming to Blu-Ray and DVD later this year courtesy of anime localizer and publisher Sentai Filmworks. Sentai Filmworks made a lot of fans of the original game pretty happy this weekend when they announced that they had re-hired all of the voice actors from the game’s original, pretty good localization, to reprise their roles for the anime. Unfortunately, it seems like they forgot to tell the voice actors about this good news.

New Resident Evil 6 Trailer Gives New Story Details

Capcom released a new trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil 6 today, and while details regarding the game’s actual gameplay are still scant, the new trailer shows (spoils?) a lot of details regarding the next chapter in RE’s convoluted but strangely engaging story. If you don’t mind some spoilers, you can find the full trailer embedded after the jump:
