Milkfat Pwns HoN Guinness Record, Plays for 76 Hours.

Milkfat Pwns HoN Guinness Record, Plays for 76 Hours.

This past weekend professional competitive gamer, Milkfat, set the new world record for consecutive hours playing Heroes of Newerth. While Guinness is still verifying the figures, S2 Games, creators of HoN,  is reporting that 69 of the 76 hours were spent actually playing, while the rest was reserved for breaks. Although he could have spent some of that break time sleeping, he chose to remain awake the entire time in order to, “prove his manliness.” That’s pretty bad-ass considering a South Korean man died in 2005 after a 50 hour Starcraft marathon, due to heart failure caused by exhaustion.

New Jersey Man Sets Fire to Synagogue, Blames Xbox 360

New Jersey Man Sets Fire to Synagogue, Blames Xbox 360

Anthony M. Graziano, a man charged with starting a fire at a synagogue in Bergen County, New Jersey earlier this month, appeared in court yesterday to plead not guilty because of a predisposition to violence caused by playing violent Xbox 360 games. His lawyer, Robert Kalisch, argued their position to the court, saying that to his client, “… it’s not a game anymore. It becomes reality.” Kalisch did not elaborate to the court which violent games his client played, but pressed the court to see how “these” games create, “lots of violence, lots of meanness,” in those who play them.

Dragon’s Dogma Includes a RE6 Demo

Dragon’s Dogma Includes a RE6 Demo

When I played Dragon’s Dogma at last year’s E3 I found a competent hack-and-slash title that, while fun, didn’t exactly grab me in a way that warranted a day one purchase. Well, that may be changing, though it’s not due to Dragon’s Dogma itself; rather, it’s because Capcom is bundling the game with the first Resident Evil 6 demo, and I just can’t say no to Resident Evil.

Bargain Bin Slumming: The Best Xbox 360 Games for $10 or Less

Bargain Bin Slumming: The Best Xbox 360 Games for $10 or Less

In tough economic times like these, it’s not unwise to tighten your belt and cut your expenditures down to the bare necessities. Of course, what qualifies as a “necessity” is open to interpretation: while some (sane) people make paying the rent or making sure they have food to eat their top priority, my personal need to be entertained overrides any basic survival instincts. I am an 20-something American male dammit, and society demands that I engage in blind, insatiable materialism and media consumption. As worrying as the thoughts of going hungry or bankrupt are, my hands shake like a withdrawing drug addict at the thought of not being able to afford more games.
