Because sometimes you just look at a game and have to ask yourself, “How did this get made? Who thought this was a good idea?”

My Love Letter to Battlefield 3
Dear Battlefield 3,
It’s so nice we have finally had a chance to get to know one another. You know, I was raised to never judge a book by its cover, and I am glad our relationship didn’t end on our first impressions. Because let me tell you, we got off to quite the rocky start. Leading up to your release, all I could talk about was how awesome BF3 was going to be…and than the beta came out.

Top 10 Boss Battles
Videogames force you to kill (or at the very least, brutally beat down) a lot of people. Whether you’re playing Halo, Skyrim, or even something as seemingly innocent as Mario, by the time you see a game’s ending credits you’ve likely killed more people/aliens/turtle-things than you can count. The amount of Chinese peasants you kill in one level of Dynasty Warriors would be enough to get you branded as a war criminal in real life. Hell, play a few hours of Call of Duty and you’ll likely kill more faceless soldiers on screen than Arnold Schwarzenegger has in all of his movies combined (538, by the way).

My Top 6 Touhou Fangames
It’s rare I do top lists of any kind since most of them have been done to death. Repeatedly. Since Touhou is largely unheard of in the west despite its overwhelming Japanese following, I thought I would do one of what I think are the best fangames based in Zun’s bullet hell series. This is only based on ones I have actually played so there may be far better ones out there. Do you think I have this much free time? Since I’m not too great at describing gameplay, I’ve included videos of the game. Since Touhou isn’t well known in the west, I’ll include wiki links where relevant because I’m nice like that.
Why top 6 instead of 5 or 10? Because I can. If curious, Sengoku Gensokyo and Labyrinth of Touhou have fan translations, and both Koumajou Densetsu games have official translations. The untranslated ones are simple enough to understand the gameplay of even if you don’t know Japanese.

Top 10 PSP Games
Sony’s Playstation Vita will hit American shores in less than a month, and expectations are understandably high for the newest handheld powerhouse. While the Vita received a strangely cold reception when it launched in Japan over a month ago, the system still tops many gamers’ most wanted lists, and it’s easy to see why: I mean, who doesn’t want something that basically amounts to a portable PS3? But while the Vita is undeniably a sexy piece of hardware, we shouldn’t forget that this isn’t Sony’s first attempt at bringing the console experience to “the handheld ghetto” (as Sony calls it.) Yes, I’m talking about Sony’s poor, oft-forgotten original PSP, and now, on the eve of the launch of it’s successor, it seems pertinent to look back on the tumultuous history of Sony’s first foray into the handheld gaming market.
C-11: A New Canadian Bill That Makes Backups Illegal
SOPA is on the chopping block, PIPA is still picking shrapnel out of its back end and ACTA is in rough water, but Canada has its own copyright ace up its sleeve, C-11. It seems copyright infringement is becoming the political pie all over the world and everyone wants a piece. Poor analogy, sure, but even worse is the lack of knowledge these bill creators have on technology.

Angry Birds Fly in the Face of Conventional Wisdom
Even though SOPA and PIPA have been defeated, it seems the issues of piracy and copyright infringement are just getting started. Even without giant axe-wielding legislation, sites that peddle in pirated wares can still be terminated faster than you can say Seal Team 6. While conventional wisdom makes sense in the conventional world, once you go digital everything changes. Some smart and savvy members of the entertainment industry have realized that maybe trying something unconventional may be better for everyone.
