Revisiting Old Classics and New Adventures – Thanks Nintendo

Revisiting Old Classics and New Adventures – Thanks Nintendo

After years of being on the fence about Nintendo’s new ways of experiencing games, I have finally taken the plunge and bought a Nintendo Wii. Maybe it was the new sleek black bundle with motion plus, maybe it was the stellar E3 lineup, or maybe it was I was missing something in my gaming life. To be honest I think it had alot to do with all of those reasons.

The first time that I saw Halo: Combat Evolved on the original Xbox, I knew that my taste and interest in gaming had changed forever. This is still true in my young adult life, but come on, Master Chief just doesn’t know how to role with Mario and Donkey Kong. I realize that these games and consoles are in the market for different reasons for different people, but I think everything has an appropriate place and time. Quite frankly I have missed classic plat-forming, and that is something that I have always looked to Nintendo for.

The Wii has brought amazing new titles like Super Mario Galaxy 2 into my life, something you can only experience on a Nintendo machine. The transition back to Nintendo finally set in for me when I realized that I didn’t care how the game looked coming through on my HD LCD TV, I was having to much fun to care, resolution, and appropriate cables at this point didn’t matter. It is a refreshing feeling to have childish fun as a gamer, and not have to worry about screaming 12 year olds on Xbox live.

This is my reason to why I picked up a Nintendo; I encourage others who have stayed away from the Wii to maybe check it out in the near future. After all most of gamers are looking for fun, new, and exciting ways to play games, and Nintendo clearly understands this. With new Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Golden eye on the way this fall and winter, it is a great time to revisit some classics, and prepare for a generation of new adventures!

No Wii 3D GASP!

No Wii 3D GASP!

It has recently trembled across the Internet, the news of no 3D Wii coming anytime soon, or ever. This spoken by Nintendo’s ‘Godfather’ Shigeru Miyamoto as he believes that too few consumers will have the hardware setups necessary for 3D gaming. This sounds a lot like the reasoning for not going HD with their current Wii as they assumed most consumers would not purchase a new TV, it seems they were a little wrong that time. Maybe they have some inside information into this one, and I personally do think it unlikely that 3D sets will take off a well as the HDTV era. Nevertheless Nintendo is staying back and waiting for the future come to them before they bring it to us.
